Thinai Arisi Payasam (Foxtail Millet Kheer)

Ingredients:

  • Thinai Arisi (Foxtail Millet) - 1 cup

  • Paasi Paruppu (Moong Dal) - ½ cup

  • Water - 3 cups

  • Honey - 50 ml

  • Nattu Sakkarai (Country Sugar) - as needed

  • Cashews - 10

  • Dry Grapes (Raisins) - 10

  • Ghee - 2 tbsp

Instructions:

  1. Pressure cook the thinai arisi and paasi paruppu with 3 cups of water for 5 whistles.

  2. Once cooked, add nattu sakkarai (country sugar) and mix well.

  3. If needed, dissolve nattu sakkarai in warm water before adding to the payasam.

  4. Stir in honey and mix thoroughly.

  5. In a small pan, heat ghee and fry cashews and dry grapes until golden brown.

  6. Add the fried nuts to the payasam and mix well.

  7. Serve warm and enjoy this delicious, healthy dessert!
